I drove back from deepest darkest wales with my board ducktaped on (still havnt figured out how to atatch it properly) so anything will do...

If you get a specific sailing one chances are it wont be any different from a normal one but at double the price. Just be a bit inventive on how you attatch it (most people mount it on a board that clips into the rudder pintles on the boat as per BnSs post)

A lot of people I know get general-purpose boards but put a longer electric cable on it. The trailer itself should have some kind of securing points. Alternatively, you could affix your board to a short plank equipped with pins that fit neatly in the rudder pin holes (I still can't remember what they're supposed to be called). It depends on the anatomy of your boat, of course.

Just about to purchase a dinghy for the first time. Should I look for a trailer board which is designed specially for sailing dinghies, or get a general purpose one :?
