Hiking Shorts

the neopreme ones do yes well the 3/4 length ones that i have most certainly do, with wear patches on both that are yet to show much in the way of wear, but the wear depends on what boat you sail as lasers are particularly brutal on neopreme

what sort of boat do you sail? i have been sailing in toppers and fevas and lasers and stuff like that and i cant realy see the point in hiking shorts. the wide side decks make it comfortable to hike.

I use Magic Marine 3/4 length hiking shorts which have extra padding on the knee plus a pair of Gul Neroprene & Kevlar knee pads over the top - all very comfy. I have had the Knee pads for around 3 years and still have not worn out so worth while for proctecting the expensive gear. I sail a RS300 so all the knee protection is worth while. When you buy a pair of hiling shorts look at the length and width of the battons and make sure they fit the backs your legs and cover the area which you will want to protect from the side of the boat.

I sail toppers and rs200's (and have sailed a laser occasionally) and I think that hiking shorts are essentail for at least the topper and the laser in a force 3+. It just make shiking more comfortable, you get better circulation to your legs etc., and can hike much harder.
