I use the StaMasters in the first photo on my F18 and they are brilliant!

We are only allowed them on the lowers on the MPS - I'll have a good look at the shows ... Thanks for the info everyone ... Rick |

These are the turnbuckle shroud adjusters used on the 49er, you can see the calibration measurements on the side and they can be adjusted fairly accurately. We need to use spanners on the 49er for adjustment due to the tension in the rig but it's better than using a boat breaker and gives us the advantage of being able to adjust from the windward wing and allows us to tweak more often. I'm not sure if spanners would be needed for lowers on a MPS but there are times where the crew on the 49er has to use both hands to stop the shroud twisting as the turnbuckle is adjusted, which could prove problematic in a single-hander. Ovington supply them for roughly £32 each but the shrouds will need to be adjusted in length and fitted to the thread screw of the turnbuckle. |

Rick, I don't know if you can do soft rigging on the Musto. If you can, have a look at the systems that the Swift Solos use. They have fully adjustable uppers and lowers. I haven't got as far as rigging mine yet so don't have full knowledge. I do know that there are times I would LOVE to have been able to release the uppers on the 59er on the water. You know the story you go out in 10 knots or less and within an hour it is blowing at 20!! Steve |

These are good as you can adjust them with your fingers (no spanner required) but the are quite course. I look into the 49er ones. Cheers, Rick |

go a basic turn-buckle. smaller lighter. finer tuning, which i find is necessary for lowers. On a small skiff 5mm of lower length makes quite a big difference. failing that jimC might have had it right with lashing and dynema |
