At Weston the RSs raced four races on the Sunday and the Lasers got three. I was running the Laser training on the Saturday and we probably had better breeze on Saturday afternoon than we did on the Sunday! BTW the Saturday night social (curry, cheap bar and a band) was awesome!

Thanks Jon! Four races on the Sunday, eh... I'd better not mention that to him.

I was at Farmoor helping out with sailability and doing safety.....little to no wind both days....that's ok though, because had there been breeze I would have been quite fed up....

Great racing in Cork for the Irish Multihull National Champs. Thanks to all involved in the organisation, and also the visiting English sailors in their Spitfires. Weather was universally sh**e throughout (note to self - the camping season ends in August - B&B it next year) but the party was mighty. Many congrats to all the Class Champions.

i was at southport for the 24hour race. were coming 19th at one stage but then the wind died to nothing and every drifted past our crew on the water dropping us to about 50th. we pulled a few places back to end up 44th. slightly dissapointing compared to our previous result of 30th but we were missing quite a few of our better sailors. was a good night on the friday though. big thanks to west lancs yacht club for organising the event etc

Took my little girl out sailing for the first time at the weekend, she was enjoying herself un til daddy made the boat go too fast  .

She seemed to enjoy herself though and might want another outing, especially if her friend goes with her!

Lol. I took my 5 year old Goddaughter out sailing last week and it was really strange to let the sail flap a bit, so the boat did not go fast enough to splash her! I figure the key thing at this stage is that she enjoys being in a boat Smile.

Contender443 and I took our younger daughter (6) in the RS200 yesterday for the morning race.

Originally, she was supposed to go with Daddy alone but it was a little too windy for her to handle the jib and spinnaker, so I came along. The first 2 laps were spent rolled in a ball at the bottom of the boat, complaining she was cold-bored-whenarewegettingbacktothebach and boat-handling wasn't too easy. After a few stupid jokes, a hefty dose of singing ("If you're happy and you know it, clap ") and a bar of chocolate, the mood had totally changed and she was cheering and laughing. When we told her it was the last lap, she was quite disappointed. Children, uh...

In the afternoon, she went to play with a friend whose dad has a Mirror and she was helming the boat for a while (under friend's dad careful supervision).

Meanwhile, I was plonked at the helm of the RS200 for the first time, with Contender443 as a crew. I'd never driven anything with more than 1 sail and 1 person, so it was a little strange at first.

After a good 10 minutes of practise, we took the start of the afternoon race and bobbed our way round the course. Perfect conditions for me, with enough wind to keep our considerable weight going but not too hairy-scary that I would capsize.

As it was, I didn't capsize the boat (an achievement, considering my sailing standards) and we didn't even finish last! Got to do it again.

Well done BNS...i remember my first race at the helm....I capsized in front of the entire fleet with 20 seconds to go and became a mobile obstruction half way up the first beat!

My daughter was loving it until the wind picked up when going upwind and i was having to lean out at bit to keep us nicely blanced (in a borrowed Mirror). We do a thing called sailing for fun which I may take her to next year if she is still keen.

I did buy her a hot chocolate when we got to shore and she liked that (and the proceeded to get the boys to chase her all over the place.....)
