saying that, Whaam isn't slow! We got beaten by it too much at the
nationals mainly becuase the 20kg in the boat was insignificant
compared to me and my helm being 26 stone between us which wasn;t
very flash in the light winds!

Well done ed! Yeah anyway im not bothered about the weight, i just want to have fun, maybe not to you lots terms but to us, whaam looksa fast boat and we are happy with it even if it does carry excess weight.

i have just got back for putting a layer of under coat on one hole and a primer on the other so it sould hopefull be able to have the first coat of paint later on today.

Very few wood Cherubs were down to weight when new, although not many good ones were more than 10lbs over. No wooden boat ever carried the amount of correcter weights that Shiny or Green Slug did when new. There's no doubt that epoxy/foam/good fibre construction is lighter for the same structural strength. |

Boats just sort of gain weight as they get older from repairs, modifications, layers of paint and filler, and soaking up water and it is always possable that it was a bit heavy to start with, it hapens sometimes. |

No we didn't but we never had any intention of winning the nationals! We just did the repair to the best of our ability but we havent ever done a project like this before and didn't want to start cutting the boat to bits even more than it already was so we could get the weight down. What is it that add's all the extra weight, is it because it is made of wood rather than all carbon like some boats? |

did you manage to shed any of the excess 25kg to bring it down to
weight when u did the repair?! there must be some chunks of lead in
there or something!
