Guys and Gals, I'm making a potentially risky maneuver this weekend. I'm
going to do a race with the girlfriend. It's only one little club race but It is
none the less a race with the lady....... I've always avoided this hazardous
situation.

sailing with a member of the fairer sex is no bad thing, women make great crews, however, sailing with ones better half is a different problem entirely, tread carefully my friend, and rememebr, what goes on the water stays on the water!

I sail with a woman, but then she is a sky diving, bungy jumping, mad sort of woman.  Her english is good but she is Chzec so she keeps it brief.

Typically we are blasting down the Medway and I'm playing it safe by running deep and she'll yell, "faster" and push out on the trap forcing me to head high and put on another 10 knots.  That's what you want from a crew - they must be fearless.  When it's blowing and you're feeling a bit apprehensive you need a partner who doesn't show their apprehension.  That relationship where because you are male, you are protective, just doesn't work in a boat.

I wonder if she thinks like that as well?

What's this I hear about dumb and dumberer coming over there and beating
all but two of you lot? (And not even racing the first day)

Do you want to come over for some training hints?

There were only four Medway boats in the 3000 class last w/e, plus six visitors.

Two local boats beat them (one of which had a female crew with with cracked ribs - as revealed by subsequent X-ray), one local boat went on holiday on the Sunday, and the other had a mutinous offspring crew so DNC'd three races.

Do pop over if the Alto needs sorting (in any sense of the word).
