i was out friday night, perfect diddy rig conditions. nailed all the tacks and all but one of the gybes. then as a came out of another nice gybe, i hooked on stepped out the boat and the trapeze line went BANG. that put a fairly swift end to that sail. On saturday i got to a chandelery and found 8 or 10 metres of d12 in their £5 bin and also 30m of 4mm stuff for the amin halyard for another fiver. dead chuffed Sunday i was teaching at 8AM. luckilly all the kids were finnished by lunch and i went windsurfing on my mates mistral OD board (from god knows when in the 90's) and 8m sail. i was just cruising along in the foot loops, hooked on, when i got it a bit wrong and binned it in over the front of the board, taking the rig with me. as i pulled the sail up afterwards i noticed that the downhaul had snapped. on closer inspection, all the pulleys had pulled off the mast extension. but now i had about a mile and half to windsurf back in with no downhaul in conditions that were not that light. By the time i got back my arms were hurting sooooo much, windsurfing is a lot harder with no downhaul. Then there was a race at 7.30 which i did in the 600 and WON on handicap, only the second race ive won in the 600, the first was in an absolute drifter and the lasers were barely moving. On the train into college on monday i fell asleep twice and nearly missed my stop. That is how to tell you've had a good weekends sailing! Edited by mike ellis |

You should have been racing your I14 at the Team racing Worlds Championships in Warnemunde. With a bit of luck, you could be World champion right now. Well done team GBR for beating 'em all, well done Team UK for being 3rd, well done Team GER for slipping in 2nd place! Finally, a HUGE well done to Sam Littlejohn (and Dicken McClean) for being a brilliant team captain!!!! |

if it's not a silly question, what's the difference between Team GBR and team UK?

There were 2 teams from the UK. See http://www.gbr.international14.org/index.php?option=com_cont ent&task=view&id=114 for more. And Sam is also great as a club member. Here he is, with his lil' sis and my younger girl (both 6 years old, never stop talking all through the race). That boy's got nerves of steel! |

i was out on sunday club racing in my 300. managed to beat the other 300 (first time) who has had his boat a year longer than me... in the first race i lapped the oppies twice and the GP14's (another first). so i was really chuffed with that. both kicker cleats came out though so i had to sail without any kicker on.... |

Was out in a Lightning today, did one lap, then at the gybe mark chucked it in, lost it and stuck it in the mud. Left it there and went in!
I HATE LIGHTNINGS!!! Spent the afternoon (about an hour!) packing up the 200 ready to bring it home to the sea! |

Sailed Andrewst's 3000 on Saturday. Psycho winds on Medway, v gusty and lumpy sea, sadly I didn't have the trap experience. But wow, is she a nice boat. So sorted and acceleration... Well that's good, to say the least. Thanks again.
Sunday. Raced an RS200, nice winds. Some great, grin plastering reaches. Oh and my backflip. Tacked, grabbed the jib sheet, kicked out to flatten the boat whilst pulling the jib... however, my foot didn't quite reach the toestrap... the sense of oh sh*t as the legs went up and I got a great view of the hull... not the view you should get whilst sailing. |
