19 knots in a 3000, hmmm really? I have foiled at about 20 knots, and that felt like Mach 5!
Needs to sail more...

No, I could see D&D pulling 20 knots quite easily.

Maybe I'll loan them my GPS, I keep meaning to take it out in ours, once they're un stuck
there's not much boat left in the water, it's so fast they've had to borrow my incontinence kit
to take it out..

They're even having a special harness built.

It's not quite windsurf fast, but not far behind.

It would be interesting to drag race it against a cherub in a strong blow.

To put some of this speed business into perspective - the guys at the front of the 800 fleet struggle to get beyond 22'ish knots...

Check out the Garmin speed freaks page thing. Photo's of the screen but we had issues loading up the track  . I tried but when I turned it on at home it started a new track but kept the top speeds of the day. It's a real shame as there would have been red lines everywhere! We we're the only people out on the water except the windsurfers so it was bloody windy!

Al might confirm how windy it was.

There's quite a lot of difference between a Laser 3000 and a V3k I believe. Lighter, stiffer (epoxy), better rig, etc. I only weighs about 50Kg now!

Not pants at all (I don't remember ever saying they were...)

Sorry, yes. Misread your post.

More pooh than pants (i.e. heavy, soggy, but won't go down no matter how hard you try to sink it)

The 3k always surprises me when I sail it, it probably isn't that fast but because of the huge breakout into planing it feels faster than it is. It feels a lot nicer on teh plane than the buzz. Just don't bother even looking at taking the cover off until a decent F4+...

Still if I was in the market for a boat like this it would probably be an RS500 not a boat with a hull designed in the 70s. The 3k is also particularly uncomfortable to sail.
