Wow!! Hey this sounds crazy! I'd love to pay a third - do try and get it down to £150, cos then it's only 50 each! But if not then it'll only be £66 each (on average I know - why don't we get the boat (if we can), get someone at chew to look at it and say what we might need to do, or we could take some photos and put them on here and get everyone to say what we need to do as cheaply as we can!! Cor that was an essay for me....! |

That mast would be good, but Id recomend sheathing it still (wraping carbon round it!) As this was part of the mast I tried when I put a 12ft fixed pole and 30sqm kite on my cherub............. it snapped in 3!!! But yer, get a cherub, join the mailing list and already ppl have offered masts, around 4 people so far!!! |

Just thought that trade it often has cheap windsurfing stuff in although im not sure if any of the stuff is carbon. Ed you said your teach is a good Windsurfer, is he liekly to have any carbon stuff lying round for us to buy cheap?

i think it might be worth getting a cheep 1 soon and getting lots of things like windsurf pole/ mast and then try and work out how to desgin what were going to do and order loads of materials etc

Bowsprit - just use part of a windsurfer mast and put one layer of 200g twill carbon cloth on. On my 1st cherub I had the bottom section, and my 2nd had the top. Now on the scorp im using the bottom again! Personal preference in bend-e-ness!! As for tin / carbon, carbons better, lighter, gust response ie the tip bends rather than heeling the boat. But you can still twin wire on a tin mast! Tin boom, carbons only better as its lighter. |
