it's very like how you would do grp but you need to use posh techniques like vacum bagging because to get the best out of it you need to have as little resin in it as possable (only use epoxy) that is why they invented pre-impregnated cf cloth how you get that to set when you want it to I don't know, I think it needs keeping in the freezer to stop it going off?

Yes ur right mr Ed !! It would be especially good if we get a very cheap cherub like that one because then we can spend the little money we have left on making it better e.g. better mast, by the looks of it better sails if thats possible !!!

carbon is really easy to use. u just need the cloth and the resin. I was a complete novice to carbon in march but i have since built a snout, lengthened my kite pole, built kick bars etc so its not too hard to use. It's easy to produce working parts, but hard to make highly efficient, lightweight parts but i'm sure you'll agree that getting on the water is at the top of the list rather than having a boat that weighs exactly 50kg!

As far as looking for old cherub spares goes, your best bet is to post on the cherub mailing list asking for specific things and i'm sure that people will say if they have anything suitable.

Ok cheers mate, is carbon cloth and resin expensive? and if we were converting from symmetric to asymmetric, would a effective bowsprit be very hard to make?

Bowsprit - just use part of a windsurfer mast and put one layer of 200g twill carbon cloth on. On my 1st cherub I had the bottom section, and my 2nd had the top. Now on the scorp im using the bottom again! Personal preference in bend-e-ness!!

As for tin / carbon, carbons better, lighter, gust response ie the tip bends rather than heeling the boat. But you can still twin wire on a tin mast! Tin boom, carbons only better as its lighter.
