The only problem with nomex is that it's basically cardboard, therefore if u make a hole in ur boat then it disintegrates like paper!

the carbon/kevlar refers to the reenforcing fibres of the hull lay-up, ie used instead of glass fibre, lighter, stronger, and stiffer.  Pure carbon or kevlar layups are good, (carbon slightly better all round) but combining the two, usually around about 25% kevlar makes a a really good all round laminate, light, stiff, strong, and durable.  The nomex refers to the sandwich core, nomex is usually used in a honeycome arrangement, it is very light and stiff.  this is not only lighter, but more efficient, and indeed stronger than the low density foams used in most boat construction.  the dowside is that it all costs a small fortune and with the current epoxies available, unless you really are desperate to save weight that there is no real need to for this extavigance.  hope this clears things up.  the SP systems site is probably as good as any to find mor info on the topic

Lightwieghts are fine in Cherubs, me and my crew are 20stone at the moment, and hopefully dropping to 18.5 (i need to loose some weight, am getting fat). And if there are three of you, then even better in a blow! Go 3 up.

Ply cherubs are no harder maintenance than a foam sandwhich one. And its much easier to work with. That boat looks in really good nick and would be perfect for upgrading!

The link to the advert is http://boatracer.co.uk/advertdetails.aspx?id=544

Your based at Chew aren't you? Is that near Draycote? Cos if you can get Draycote i'll take you for a blast in my beast in October.
