Sailing with ratface ... I booked this afternoon off work, and we were gonna sail his 14 ... But looked at the water and decided against it (people saying it was gusting 35 wasnt too good either) so we ...

Took a 2k out for an hour ... Came in.

Switched to a 200, him helming, me at the front end ...

And wahooo!

Not one capsise!

The 4k on the other hand .. Well .. They challenged us to a race downwind.

We tack, hoist the kite, I look over my shoulder, see the crew on the 4k lower himself, and the boat start accellerating. (By this point, we were both hiking, clouds of spray .. the works!)

Look back again .... See them swimming.

Lets say that we managed to go down, back up, back down again .. before crossing tacks with them upwind again!

7 o'clock .. we headed in, I hopped out, someone else hopped in for a quick sail with ratface, I was then called out to the 4k ... ( Details on this to follow when I have spoken with the owner!)

Lets just say it was fun while it lasted!

there was ample wind at lymington this weekend for the 600 open. i had a great time, i think i even managed to finnish not last!  i have spent all of this week getting scratches out the hull and fixing leaks (back of the daggerboard case, and a few trapeze hook dings), perhaps i should have done that before the open meeting
600 732, will call it Sticks and Stones when i get round to it.

Of course there was no wind, it was Father's Day!

You should have come cycling with us. I went from London to Brighton with another 27,000 riders for the biggest charity ride in Europe. The atmosphere is incredible.

We had a gentle northerly breeze almost all the way down - I should have taken a spinnaker and gybe all the way up Ditchling Beacon.

Shame I hurt my knee because I was planning to join the 2pm race in Lancing. As it was, I sat on the beach watching the others having fun... Mind you, I could do with a rest

The Medway was full of holes this Sunday.  The morning race turned into a long one with light winds and occasional strong gusts.  Further down the river the wind fell away to almost nothing but as we approached the turning mark it filled in again.  We thought that we'd get decent winds all the way back but sailed into the flat area again.  Quite interesting really since it was almost a kilometre wide and had hardly moved in 20 minutes.

The afternoon was if anything lighter overall but less variable, and light in the vicinity of the clubhouse.  So we had a good race until we came back to cross the line, by then the wind had gone but the tide was still strong.  We made it eventually ead of the Osprey which rather pleased us.

I wouldn't say I've completely left those days behind but I'm getting there slowly. You'll enjoy Saturday if it's SW breeze, afraid I won't be there though

Luckily it was just off the beach (well, gravelled area at the edge of the lake), so someone actually saw it. What made it even more special is that yesterday was a bonus sail, I saw the forecast of 5mph and only went up to touch up some scratches on the paint, so was quite pleased to find a solid F3 and even more pleased with the result.

Cool nice to see your getting the hang of it and have left the days of washing up on the bank well behind! I will have to have a look at your new paint job on sat we are coming up your way for a YHYSA open.
