Chris,

I think sticking with a 9er and Musto is the way to go, Chopping and changing classes left right and centre is never any good for your sailing (Jack of all trades, but master of none) I also think that with your current location the Musto is the best bet all round! I wouldnt bother with a 12fter till they ae more established over here!

Good Luck

Yea, hate to say it but you lot do give good advice .

Rutland is definitely one of the best if not the best place to be for Mustos so I am sure I will learn loads here. As for the 49er, I have thought about leaving school next year if I do have a crew and going full time, but I am not so sure how well that would go, a big gamble to take!

Most people who want to crew 49ers seriously seem to be on the South Coast. I do have a crew now, but It may not work out. He has only really sailed Tornados as far as fast boats go and if its anything like the last crews then it will only last a couple of times out before petrol gets too expensive! . Graftham Looks quite good as well so maybe have to relocate there..

How many people actually ordered AltOs out of interest?

No competition tbh. And i was merely suggesting a boat for him to consider not to buy. We're not all forced to sail cherubs

Chris didn't ask for a new class to sail he already enjoys sailing a 49er when he has a crew and has stated that he would like a musto for when he doesn't have a crew.

As he doesn't have a regular crew I suggested that he should prahaps try sailing only a musto for a while, for the reasons i stated above.

What use would a 14 be to him if he doesn't have a crew? and is already happy with a 49er???

Now try and keep this thread on topic for once

Haha

Mmm if the 49er doesn't work out I think I will do that, just stick to the Musto and maybe pick up the 49er again later, when its a bit easier (left school and I can move wherever, most people who want to crew 49ers seem to be on the south coast!)

But if I decided I didn't want to sail a single handed boat then I would probably go for a cherub
