Back to what was mentioned before, the MPS in my opinion, is a better choice for an Olympic boat than the 700 just because it seems a more demanding boat to sail. She has a fully battened sail, whereas the 700 doesn't, and in general terms the 700 seems an easier option. In my mind its like saying they should select the RS 800 in the place of the 49er, but the difference is there is no real speed difference between the 700 and MPS. Some of the MPS guys are some of the best sailors I've seen, so in a way, that swings it for me too.

You will find that at the moment the 470 is on the way out as the weight required is not realistis for the whole sailing community.

Currently the Flying Dutchman class is in full swing to take thata spot and arranging boats as 'supply' for the games.

It is happening .

the boats that will be supplied are cheap and we have a builder that is making a mould that will make this boat the come back king

Shame, I quite liked the 470 but I haven't sailed an FD but they look awesome boats and heard alot of nice stories about them, so it might be a good thing. At the same time, isn't the FD a boat for heavier sailors? Wouldn't mind seeing the 505 take the 470 place just because I really like sailing the boat, the class seems to be developing well but would be equally happy to see the FD make a come back.
