I've thought about gettin a 29er bt i've got no one to sail with as
there is a distinct lack of juniors at my club so i've been freelance crewing for people at the club. Do you think if I begged RS/ Topper etc they would design me one on the basis that there is a huge market for them? . . |

Beebe, surely if you want the ultimate high performance single hander you want a MOTH www.int-moth.org.uk? At 8 stone you'd fly in lighter wind than the big boys, and because it is a development class you can get the rig set up to suit your weight so you can handle it in a breeze. Who needs a spinnaker or trapeze when you can have hydofoils? That's what I'd be sailing if my helm suddenly fancied a break from the Cherub! We share loads of events with the mothies and they are the 2nd friendliest bunch of sailors I've ever met so I'm sure they'd give you loads of help and advice if you get in touch. Lucy |

Alternatively there is the Farr 3.7 - only sailed in New Zealand at present but it would seem to fit your description. Here is the link - www.sentech.co.nz/Farr37/ They are a 3.7m hull (similar to a Byte) with an 8.8m2 carbon rig with trapeze so nice and easy to right... you just have the hassle of importing from New Zealand... |

How about a Laser 3000? Great lightweight sailors' boat with trapeze and asymmetric kite. You can sail it two-up or singlehanded with or without the trapeze, using any combination of mainsail, jib (on a furler) and spinnaker. Check out http://www.laser3000.lasersailing.com/ |

That's the boat I've asked you to get me for my birthday! Where is it??? Seriously, it does look like a pretty boat, full of fun but not too powerful. Maybe Blobby, you should investigate into exporting it to the UK! |

Just one thing, not really related to this thread (sorry) How on earth can people do that?? Sail barefoot? Aren't you likely to catch your toes in the wires, shrouds, etc? Do you get enough grip? |

Sailing barefoot is great, until, you rub all the skin off the top of your foot from hiking, stub your toe on the self bailer and step out of the boat straight on to a really sharp stone, all on the same day. Then you buy a pair of boots, never sail barefoot again and wonder why you did so in the first place. |

Barefoot is great but I do take my boots with me for when i get out of the boat on shore, Lots of hidden rocks + jellyfish at certain events.
