that must have been annoying especially as it was the first time uve been out in the thing .  stuff like that really annoys me when it happens  because it can also be very scary at times!

BWD, sounds like your first sail in a contender was as bad as mine (the b****y thing nearly killed me). though i can just about sail it now.
Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Yeah, Bl%^Ły rudder stock broke, very nice trying to land in a reasonable surf and offshore wind without a rudder, and it was the first time I had sailed the thing.
