Best things at the show for me were:

Geoff Holt's talk *****

The look on Gael's face when offered some wine ****

Contenders ***

Adam Bowers ** (only 2 stars because they reschedlued his talk and I missed most of it)

Garry

Lark 2252, Contender 298

Yes.....I was a bit peeved when I'd cunningly arranged time on the stand and a commitee meeting to allow me to go to Pauls talk only to find on the day it had been moved....

Although the highlight was watching Paul, Ben, Stevie and Ben 2 racing the Radio controlled boats.  The rules adherence of the 49er boys was a bit suspect but watching Ben 1 concentrate and look mildy agreived when despite it looking like there was more wind on the left of the course it wasn't paying was a joy!  Bear in mind this was a mess about he was really serious about getting it right and didn't appear to relax until he knew had it turned serious he would have been able to win.  A fascinating if impromptu insight into the mind of a champ.

I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

Sorry to disappoint, Luke!! If memory serves, my boat was on the stand in 2001. The money we would have spent is being put into stuff for the sailors, like training and travel grants. If a blast around in an FD appeals, just drop me a PM and it shall be done!

From a personal point of view, the whole damn thing is just dull and
deeply commercial now, so I'd rather spend the time sailing.

Don't call me a crustie you halfwit..

Check my posts also regarding wether I'll admit mistakes, we all make
them and one of which is even giving you the credibility of a response..

not just design) yet very niche
indeed in many ways.

And to answer your "how high can I go" question...not very high at all!
You are looking for a small flat
kite with the CoE quite far back, squeezing airflow over the back of the
main.  A big baggy kite down to
leeward and well forward is just going to drag the bow downwind and
create hideous lee helm.  If that's
what you want to do, I really, really recommend trying a symmetric boat
first, I think you might be
pleasantly surprised!

The only thing it really has in common with the 500, other than me, is
the single trap. The 500 is a youf
boat I now realise, I don't think they expected grownups to buy it, their
training is all about youf and the
max crew expectation is spotty youf and first girlfriend. I
was mistaken,
I probably only bought into it
because a lot on here were so anti, but it served me well to learn a tad
more than I could in the 3000
another small persons boat. We'll see about the rest, no use speculating
here but be assured I shall try all
sorts of wrinkles, and it'll be fun trying them.

You sail an FD and call me a Crustie....

Have you even got a clue?

More like a lump of particularly polluted slush dripping down the back of your neck. Oh for a kill file.

Apparently I have enough of a clue not to go out and buy an underdeveloped, halfbaked piece of marketing muppetry and then complain endlessly about it before changing it for another underdeveloped, halfbaked piece of marketing muppetry.

Not so light-hearted when the abuse is directed at you, are you? Even when it's meant as "inter-class banter".
