just after you launch is a classic 'moment of opportunity' when it comes to red-faced capsizes in front of the club house.... can't count the number of people I've seen go in while trying to adjust bits not adjusted (or attached!) on shore, put on fixed rudders or get blown over while still wandering if they should have had a pee before setting out.....   my personal favorite has still got to be sailing straight into a mooring pile while trying to adjust my wetsuit hiking pads - doooohhhh!!!
Feeling sorry for vegans since it became the latest fad to claim you are one

Yea but in his defence it probably was a pretty rare occurance. They handled themselves for the rest of the course for 2 hours in 25 knots gusting 30 (at least from what I could tell, I was up by the water tower for most of it apart from the odd tow in), bet thats pretty hard work and that was what seemed to be the bit where most capsized.

edit: G.R.F, banned from what?

No, as I said at the time and got banned shortly after, it shows that some
boats have gone to far down the "To technical to sail" route.

If good guys can't handle them, what hope is there for the future ordinary
guys?

Haha wish I had seen that (considering his record so far, even if it was as a crew).

To be fair he probably wouldn't normally.. He is always with a different crew! Its quite hard sailing it with a different crew everytime / with a crew you have sailed little if at all with.

I didn't look any of that up.. We do actually do that in physics and since I only had a physics mock yesterday morning...

Your not wasting your taxes on me, I don't go to a state school.. Don't aprecciate been called a rhettard either.

Wouldn't know if I could gybe a 49er infront of the clubhouse at weymouth since I havn't tried yet..

Well I am at least pleased he's heard of the fellow, I asked my 11 yr old
daughter who's in the final year of the village school and probably as well
up on the Muslim Faith as I am yet has never heard of him.

I then asked my third daughter who is currently at not the cheapest
private school going and she couldn't tell me either yet knew the name
and not being on the end of a PC with Google & Wiki to hand like young
Bridges could not quote chapter and verse.

Anyway enough about wasting our taxes on the rhettards.

Lets define a sailing no hoper shall we?

I'd say it's anyone in a 49er who can't gybe it at Weymouth in front of the
club house and from memory that was half the entire Olympic fleet

Displacement of water? I forgot about that..

Why is that surprising for someone you sails a 49er? I only follow the 49er fleet properly.. Just because you sail one olympic class doesn't mean you know about them all

Actually they just don't follow it all, just like me.. I follow what i am interested in and thats only the 49er and I happen to know about Ben Ainslie (obviously..) and I had heard about Goodison from talking to someone at the club.

I'm not exactly going to let people think I think the GBR sailing team is rubbish, when I definitely do not feel that way! I have already admitted i got it wrong but everyone just keeps finding other things to pick at!

I can promise you I'm not this FevaKid guy, don't even know who he is.

Aw, leave him alone - I reckon his spelling and sentence constuction is a lot better than most teenagers.  He just needs to learn to when to stop (just like Fevakid!) and to think about the experience of people on forums before posting opinions on subjects he doesn't know much about.  On the subject of Archimedes - I'm guessing he is best known (amongst sailors at least) for his 'Eureka' moment - or doesn't wikipedia cover that?
