I've not been here recently and that's because the boat is at Bough Beech - so I'm not sure what's happening on the Medway.
However Bough Beech are holding their anual Icicle Series and we're about halfway through. The first week was abandoned due to lack of wind - a shame as there must have been 45 boats waiting at the water's edge. The following week we had 3 races in quite a lot of wind - we did quite a bit of swimming - so I can't remember how many we completed. Surprisingly we have found we are the only 4000. The 3rd week was very windy - gusts of F7 I'm told - but 2 races completed. Week 4, I was the Race Officer on a lovely sunny medium to light day. And then last Sunday cold and windy and only just over a dozen boats out. We only had one capsise all day and were able to blast down the length of the lake (~1k) at maximum thrust in about 2 minutes so we were going very fast. I can't wait for next weekend. |

( aaha .. someone found the thread! )
Sailed Saturday for a few hours with HannahJ, Got a capsise ( and inversion ) in, and lost 4 mars bars and a bottle of Lucozade. ( Bah! ) Sailed in, Helped a friend rig an launch his Streaker ... and then derigged the Fireball ... And put the streaker trailer back in as he was towed in by the RIB .... With a broken rudder! Saturday .. Decided against going for a yacht in the end, after watching people trapezing / hiking from the middle of clouds of spray .... ( And the broken masts being towed in! ) Derigged the furball, and wandered around looking at boats ( Subtle Knife is nice!! Carbon!!! *drools* ) and drinking hot chocolate. |

Fianlly got the 8.1 out in a bit of a breeze today (we had 15-18kts in the afternoon).
I was surprised by how much easier to handle than a standard Laser it is. Must be the different cut. Think I may get moans about handicap though as I started 2 mins behind the fleet cos I got stuck approaching the start but still sailed through to be 4th on handicap behind 2 Phantoms and a Merlin.... Ho hum... Paul Now 8.1 227/Laser 121821 |

With the sails speak to Dick batt at Batt sails He normally has old sails or development sails which are years old now and cheap he also used to make 14 sails around the time yours was built so you never know what he has learking around!
