Don't go taking that seriously now.. there was a little winky icon which means it's meant in jest and nobody would take the trouble to type all that bollox, if they didn't appreciate your input... So handshake taken.

Graham, I have sparred with you here recently. I do feel for where you appear to be - I am in that headspace myself, though I am much more enjoying re-discovering sailing as opposed to racing. If you have blown out 2 clubs, maybe it isnt them???  Anyway, take care. Its a difficult time for us all.

Er, you really will have to try harder before you take the Dunce cap off and come and play with the rest of us boys...

I didn't say, I'd 'blown out' two clubs, I said I'd lost one and the other has us still locked out. The one has been priced off its lake b y a new owner/franchisee for the agregate/backfill the lake provides two 40% fee uplifts one after the other raising the annual membership from 100 to 350 in two years which has driven off most of the club members. The other club are just terminally risk averse, because it either suits them to do nothing or they are just not that interested in the sailing element in the club since everything else works without tedious stuff like rescue boats, briefings etc.

As to people who 'sail' just for sailings sake, fine, lots of us garden, watch grass grow as well, but it's not why we come on this forum, or dwell on this thread, which is about racing, so you're wrong, keep the cap on.

Well put

Who dared to say that? Go stand in the corner with the D hat on.

It might not be life and death for some of you but it's pretty damn high on the very short list of things that keep me happy to get out of bed every day.

So this is a thanks to someone from this forum, who I now shall consider in a totally different light for taking the trouble to find out 'how I am' because I've been a bit quiet of late, which is hardly surprising since there hasn't been much going on to even talk about until just recently.

And as I said to him I haven't anything much other than apoplectic rage at this totally unneccesary nightmare with even worse to come. I've lost a club, not entirely due to covid but it hasn't helped and it will certainly never recover, whilst my other club which is now run by 'Executives' rather than a committee and they are most definitely of the Health & Safety variety, keeping us at bay whilst new commercial operations thrive.

Yesterday was the first day I actually raced with the residual wednesday afternoon club and it did wonders to lift my spirits even though I'm carrying half the lake round with me in my Solution that has somehow filled up with water over the winter and with no bung, not easy to get out.

The 2nd time I went 'free sailing' on the sea, which is about as big an area as you can get, saw me end up with a laser impaled in my port side and a thumping great hole for my troubles but up until then the new sail I'd built for the Farr was going really well #shouddahailedstarboard.

So, no sea racing as of yet, meanwhile it's perfectly OK for 22 grown men and officials to go about their wendyball so the lockdown sheeples can watch tele..

The nightmare continues.

Going sailing with the other half works well, but the teaching sometimes not. So sharing the experience of a cruise in a Sport 16 with no expectation of learning happening sounds like a good way to go.

Rarely - foolishly I tried to teach her when we first married on my Laser 4000, which was dumb but she has been out a bit with me in friends Sport 16 recently!
