Universities are already studying peoples reactions to lock down, griff you are going to go down a treat, they will study social media, especially public access forums, from car thieves.com to alleged more enlightened forums like Y&Y, caravan club etc.

I, for a few years now, write a daily diary. I use MS OneNote as it is accessible on  my phone and my laptop. I write whenever I feel like, even adhoc during the day. It helps to vent my frustrations with people and life and write down other personal thoughts. Sometimes, I go back and review past days and weeks and realise that what I have written about really isnt so bad now with the passage of time. There are of course other applications out there.

I tell you this, as it may help you for yourself. Y&Y really isnt the place to vent like these many post and especially when you have you have a business detail in your signature associated, as people will make puchasing decisions (or not) based on their impression of you on a public forum.

Just a suggestion and a word to the wise.

Take care

Priti Patel, may toughen up lock down, there is a marked increase in traffic, hardly surprising when millions are returning to work, my company closed down due to being unable to maintain social distancing, now we can open with the same issue mitigated by turning heads so we can now work side by side but not anywhere else, good luck with maintaining lock down.

You are wrong that just because you are proficient and unlikely to get into trouble that sailing should be allowed - the harbour master has to make rules that apply to the majority which means he has to stop muppets going out in a blow up paddle boat and being swept out to sea or whatever. There are plenty of people who think they are great sailors who go for a swim every time the breeze gets up.

But, people are fine taking up cycling. Wiggle / Evans are reporting massive shortages of bikes because so many people have bought new.

I consider myself pretty competent at cycling, but I've ended up in an ambulance / A&E from that.

I think harbour masters, coastguard and the RYA should issue guidance. Saying now is not he time to take up a new unfamiliar sport. To stay well within your comfort zones. To stay close to home in familiar waters. That mirrors what cycling organisation have been largely saying.

My fundamental belief is that outdoor activity, despite the risks, long term will see more people avoid health care. There will be people that need rescuing afloat by the coastguard and RNLI. But there will be less people who need recusing by the health professionals in the community.

Anecdotal evidence from my own life...

Sailing my laser:
Times needed rescue: 0
Times I've had an accident that injured me: 1
Times needed medical treatment: 1 (I badly chipped a tooth when de-rigging).

Riding my bike:
Times needed rescue: 3
Times I've had an accident that injured me: 5
Times I've needed medical treatment: 1

Ergo for me, sailing is not more dangerous than cycling and the danger/emergency services argument doesn't apply.

Also, for some sailing is not really exercise (potter around not really hiking or working hard), but for me it is.

To go sailing (I live 5 minutes from the club) would not be against the rules, but I'm currently not doing it purely because of how it would look and the hassle it attract from people who misinterpret or jump to conclusions.  By the time we get to week 10 that decision may change.

I'm also not windsurfing, but that's because the kind of windsurfing I do isn't really exercise for someone who is already generally fit.  I'd having nothing against an RS-X sailor going out and pumping their way around though...

Spanish flu epidemic can't really be compared to covid19, Spanish flu was a vicious killer, you could pop to the shops a healthy person and be dead by lunchtime, it could be that fast, outdoors over indoors was probably due to overcrowded living space.
Herd mentality is needed for society to function, we are individuals but act for the most part in unison.

I think it's spot on, explains everything, the media only going for negativity, confirmation bias by supposed 'experts'.

Ignoring facts that indoors is worse than outdoors, that was proven in the WW1 outbreak, patients outside recovered better than those inside.

We've all been locked up for at least a month, it's time the bloody restrictions were relaxed, at the very least we should be able to visit friends who have also been locked up for a month. Gather at each others houses.

We should be allowed on the bloody water to exercise.

It really is outrageously stupid all this.
