Stick is aiming to round Land's End today. He's shot down the west coast and made it from near Tenby to St. Ives via Crackington Haven (near Bude) in two days, albeit with a following wind. He is going to have a pretty windy last few days sailing back to Eastbourne.

It's easy to follow the "dangerous", " could tie up the Rnli" etc route, but reading his posts I cant. Someone just getting on and " doing it " in this sanitised, risk adverse world.
Bravo! |

For anyone not following on Facebook, Stick is sailing 60 miles across the Irish sea today (unsupported) from the Isle of Man to Holyhead. Last reported 6 miles off Anglesea. He left Port Patrick (near Stranraer) only on Monday! Amazing.

Is anybody else following the travels of Neil Peters, AKA "Stick Daring," a sailor from Eastbourne who is half way through an epic trip in his old leaky "beach" Laser around the UK to raise money for prostate cancer? He is going anti-clockwise and has almost made it to Cape Wrath.
His has been posting regularly on his "Stick Daring" Facebook page with some excellent footage from out at sea describing the last or the next challenge. The rip tides around Duncansby Head sounded terrifying. Patching up the holes in his boat under a tarpaulin on a cold and wet empty north Scottish beach makes you realise how tough this trip is. I am full of admiration for what he has achieved so far and it would be nice to see more followers on his Facebook page. |
