Where do you get yours from? I have two conflicting wind forecasts
for tomorrow. Windguru and XC Weather are both predicting about a force 5 but
the BBC and Metcheck are predicting about a force 2! |

There's often a big difference on windguru between what you get on free, and what you get on Pro. The difference really is this- for King George, the free (GFS) gives a forecast that averages all of London, and bits of Essex and Hertfordshire. The Pro on the other hand gets down to pretty much just Enfield and Chingford.
Other factors: BBC uses the Met Office primarily, most other sites with free data use the American NOAA, as they give out their numbers freely. The best thing to do is to use multiple sources, and try to build up your own impression of what seems most accurate for you. Big differences in forecast indicate a lack of certainty- basically, with the systems we're now in, and those stacked up across the Atlantic, it's pretty hard to work out what will happen even with supercomputers and years of training. |

Magic seeweed is a good site to everything weather wise. I normally use bbc or metcheck for future for casts, say a week on but then whwn the time is close i normally use windguru or magic seeweed. What i believe and have read what windguru do is that if you don't have the pro verson, they they give you the forcast they predicted on the previous day.

I went sailing yesterday, LOSER! Only capsized once (a dodgy tack), but it wasn't 30 knots. We had a near perfect 4 and got a good 4 1/2 hours solid practise in.

Is it worth paying the extra for the up-to-date Winfguru data; and as a related thought, could a club sign up for it and members access it via a members area on the web-site? I have at the back of my mind that some clubs already do this. Which leads me to a final question; if it is possible to have collective access to Windguru Pro, does anyone have a working link to it?
