I was not saying other fleets were not putting out the best sailors just stating the 14 had some very good sailors there. BM is one of those events were there is certain types of boat that do well given the right conditions. I14, 12, 49er, A rater, fireball, solo even enterboxs have done well In the past in the light. Other types never do well like the laser, as you say 505, I don think a musto or 700 have ever done to well. Mustos have a good PY but the BM course does not suit and getting past slow boats is an issue as it is a light boat and rig is not to high. But end of the day most people do the BM for a bit of fun. If all we wanted to do was win we would turn up with a load of dif boats and pick the best one for the day…. |

Does anyone have a list of past winners? I think there is a list in the club house! Sure it would make good reading with a lot of legends in there. would be good to see what class has won the most. I would bet on the 14.... |

420s won quite a lot when it was windy ... It would be interesting to see the list as Bov says ... perhaps it's on the QMSC website? |

The year Flat Stanley won it (I think) there were about 10 505s at the front, but someone said they'd sailed the wrong course. They didn't think they had, but couldn't be sure, so they all retired. Either way, they were doing pretty well that year! If I remember right, it was quite breezy....
