GRF. it is a shame that your first reaction is to criticise when this is a racing award for amatures that have devoted a lot of their time I to achieving something incredible. The fact it was done with his son must be an amazing feeling and so.ethi g the whole family is incredibly proud of.

I would love to sail with my nipper in the future to this level. Truly a magnificent achievement and a show that sailing can be a sport for life!

iGRF,
'Winging it' not 'wingwang', 'Nessa' she won recognition recently for services to sailing, she was mentioned on local news, either this year or last, so people do get recognised for their selfless services to sailing.

Great year, but plenty of people have won nationals. Maria was the first female helm to win in an adult RS class, in 25 years. I can't remember another lady winner of a UK adult nationals, let alone one of the top fleets. I also think her podium at the endeavour was the best ever performance by a lady helm. I think Rob will be delighted with his season, but I'm sure he can recognise the unique circumstances which led to the nomination being for her alone.

I know the GPs had a lot of boats, but as far as I can see there were only two boats from outside the UK and Ireland so classing it as a "worlds" up there alongside that of the Int 14s and other classes is a bit of a stretch.

She was nominated for, and won, the BBC East Local Hero award. She was nominated by her Tuesday morning ladies and the full extent of her volunteering came out. It was nice to see someone who had worked so hard get the recognition she deserved.

Pretty sure 3/4 of a typical i14 worlds fleet is non uk.
Uk, Germany, France, USA, Canada and Australia all have strong fleets. Japan still has a few.
Sure it’d be nice to have more nations but it’s a legit international class.

I was going to vote for David Hivey, as I met him some years ago when he did a really great RS400 coaching day. Not only a top level sailor, but someone who can communicate what he knows.

But I lost the will to be bothered after some intrusive questions and then the website couldn't link to info about these dinghies of the year I've never seen.

Like you say both pros, but furthermore pros competing in the class they sail professionally against what is overwhelmingly youth competition (and is a recognised youth class).
