Topic: A new class of dinghy? Posted: 03 Oct 18 at 7:23pm |
Love you Grumpf... finally a worthy response, and someone who gets a little irony... although I did quite like H2's dongchuggin' one liner, quite refreshing for the sallow halls of a dinghy forum. Mike's 'put down the keyboard quips' when that's exactly where he's sat do get a little irksome... but hey, it's standard operating procedure so we come to expect it.

Personally I could give a tinkers cuss to the latterday pussyboy and girl no hope generation of self entitled no marks. My lot endured rationing until we were seven and I think I was eight before I even experienced a banana, we roamed bomb sites as our playgrounds and worked from the moment we were able. Paper rounds, menial jobs whatever we could do to scratch a living, working with closed shops, unions, three day weeks, strikes inflation at 20%, then booms and busts at regular interval, making and losing small fortunes as the markets also waxed and waned, housing price collapses anyone remember Anthony Barber, and that other idiot Lawson was it? Then that exchange rate debacle under Major cost me three hundred grand as Sorus shorted sterling. We voted labour to get a swing of the pendulum back against the outrages of capitalism and what did we get? Blair, Brown and more of the same until the next financial disaster.
No, we've paid our dues and if the youth of today have any sense they'll deliver Corbyn and it'll be everything the b**tards deserve.
As long as I can encourage the Taxman to keep on provding me with boats I'll keep quoting that apt saying from our generation.. I'm alright Jack. |
Blimey, another one who could benefit from a slice of rump and a knob snog.

.... I was talking about generational income and spending
patterns- nothing personal, no need to be so defensive.... Besides, the
grey goat shimmied up to the lectern to announce austerity is over
today, so let's all spend our money on boats again- yay!n (ETC ETC....)
TT - Stand well away from that keyboard .. and nobody will get hurt. (You are really on to prove the point being made now.... Understand THIS STUFF DOES NOT REALLY MATTER.) Chill !! Go Sailing or get yourself sorted out as H2 has suggested already .... and I don't mean his steak offer btw .

Quite ironic how all this goes full circle, wasn't it Dancing Queen that the naked Blaze sailors posted on YouTube?

TT
.. I'm inclined to agree with H2 on the first point he made ....
... why not try a range of 'new' experiences, life sounds like it is getting a bit stale... Try an H2 as suggested, maybe a decent Blaze even for that matter ... or whatever. Possibly even try a large handicap event or two - you never know you might get to see what 'others' are quietly getting on with away from the web... and even seem to enjoy.
While you are at it maybe consider lightening up a bit on the political rant stuff. You make FAR too many assumptions about 'others' btw. Could be time to consider a good hobby to give a bit of perspective. .. what's that ?... you have one already ?

And you could buy a decent lawn mower or golf clubs and spend the rest of your life in other mediocrity. Personally I'd rather blow the thirty odd grand I think the running total must be by now and actually enjoy sailing something pleasant, that's the beauty of this sport it's multi faceted, sailing a laser just removes one of the facets.
When I compare my sailing budget with what I pay the bloody tax man to keep us in conniving retarded politicians or my Mrs for new bathrooms, kitchens and daughter accessories, I need to spend more, there's a huge deficit.
|
Perhaps you should consider adding a Laser to your fleet? Tell your wife it's an investment.
I was expecting mine to depreciate at a few hundred quid a year, but two years on, people are asking more than I paid, for boats of a similar sail number.
|
I got near double for the last Laser I sold, I did split it down a bit though, had a radial and 8.1 rig for it and a road base.
