No it sounds doable on paper. Only issue is that even if you get it out for sub £3k ie less than half @ero money, and still about £2k less than new laser, you still have to compete with the large fluid market in used lasers for £3k or less, which would probably appeal more to non institutional buyers. What if they go kiteboarding and invest their trust fund in a blockchain technology instead...
Besides, something big might come along economically speaking, and sailing in Frankfurt sucks |

It’s a good theory... craft and art are different after all. |

I'll await the GRF/TT joint kayak/SUP/dinghy rental. ![]() ![]() In fact if you get them to prepare their own craft then the dinghies would never even make it to the water - there's an awful lot of assumed knowledge in sailing that's pretty abstract to non-sailors. Yes, these all sports have their peaks of skill (we sometimes share surfski races with SUP guys and it is hugely impressive, both their balance and speed, compared to a 20ft racing kayak), but trying to claim the learning curves are identical is mistaken (and what leads sailing to be so rubbish at recruiting new people). At beginner level SUP has a built in, immediate, easy mode... you kneel down...

All true but it doesn't take weeks of training to make a dinghy go in the light stuff. I'd hazard that most people would get the hang of the basics with half an hour's help and a couple of hours playing about in the water. WRT to SUPing, I tried it on flat water, stood up in the first 20 yards, then decided it probably wouldn't excite me for long and gave it back to my mate. I suppose I may reconsider as it does get you on the water and it has got a higher 'cool' factor than a SOT......

That is my take, I might just dig out the Rotobat and have a relaxed float around in that instead 🙃

I'm waiting for an SDP. Why do you have to stand up - what's wrong with sitting down. Can you fit a chair to an SUP?

When you give someone half an hours coaching and tell them to head for buoy 4 turn around and come back to Buoy 7 and then back up to Buoy 4 again, in other words reaching backwards and forwards, this is sailing I admit 'but' 'not really' it's a start that's all. To suggest anything else is totally irresponsible, all these stories, I learnt to swim when my Dad threw me in the pool and walked away, good enough for me good enough for anyone, didn't hurt me, (with a twitching eye and a tremor
