The "new" Tasar sails are an improvement; makes the boat look current.

Still think the Tasar is a cool boat, imagine one built by Ovi's with a carbon mast upgrade.

Proper lightweight boat, easy to sail by a couple/parent & child suitable for all waters and a pleasure to sail with a nice rewarding turn of speed ... what is not to like?

How much difference does the Tasar's rotating mast actually make?

Here we go again.. Another thread turned into revisionist thinking about another failed class, a bandit at that. The reason that Tasar thing aint ever going to happen is precisely because you can't get hold of anyone even when you've got one and need spares, because it's probably distributed from an old peoples home and it's past their bedtime.

You are not wrong there which would be why it would be great if there was a UK builder; like Ovis

I imagine it would be a massive expense I doubt there are moulds here so it would need new moulds, then there's the question of a license fee, then I guess you have to decide about that clunky boom gear lever thing, would 'the class' permit a different rig etc etc and isn't it something to do with those dodgy skiff designing antipodeans I gather they like to extract their full pound of flesh.. no, better let it die and design something new imv.

Instead of arguing about whether to update the Tasar....if you think its a good idea then design something that looks very similar / almost identical, built to the standards you want by a UK builder and with a lighter rig and call it whatever you want. If there is demand for it then it will sell and you do not have to worry about dealing with the Aussies.

What like the Icon?

These days it seems a difficult task to launch a new boat unless you are RS; and not all of theirs are as successful as the Aero; remember the RS100 that was popular here at one point.

The Tasar has some critical mass that could be built upon.
