Before watching the National 12’s ice yachting, I got diverted with the land yachting at the top of the page.

A considerable time ago we were selling land yachts and were also Laser dealers. Some of the local lads decided to make a land yacht chassis which the Laser rig dropped straight into, and christened it the Land Laser. It worked very well and was recorded at reaching 50/60 Mph. Despite being capsized at speed, to my knowledge the rig stood up to the use/abuse with no breakages, which just shows the unseen forces acting while afloat. Great fun.

The idea had been done earlier with the Topper rig in England, and it was called the Bowler.

They seem to have disappeared, which is a pity.
