Maybe it would be a good thing if everybody stayed rigidly on topic but the forum would probably be a less interesting place.

Without thread creep, this discussion would be somewhat shorter and wouldn't occupy the top spot half as often. Does need to be dragged back every now and again. But don't forget, there is an old banger in the Hadron's recent past. |

Even with a foot well the Phantom has at least 160mm less boom clearance than the H2.

Thats half right Ovi hull (all moulded hulls have to come out of the class owned mould currently with Ovi) that is then fitted out by JJ boats either in wood or epoxy top side. Floor is the same height as other double floor self drainers, with a foot well cut out around the helming position keeping the rear part of the double floor as a bouyancy tank. No need for a thwart, although these can be (retro) fitted to the standard double floor boats The dropped footwell can and has been retro fitted by JJ and others to Epoxy hulls There are photos of the dropped footwell on the JJ website:- http://www.jjboats.co.uk/boats/phantom Edited by Phil_1193 - 20 Feb 17 at 4:07pm |

I believe you can get Ovi to do one or get one built with a half and half cockpit (self draining at the back, deeper at the front). Combine that with a thwart helps with the kneeling issues. Thing like the Laser, D-Zero and Aero are in a different league and people who sail those classes are unlikely to immediately jump in to a H2.

Don't see the head to head with the OK, which really is a head to head with the Solo ... which historically were competing for the same slot until the Laser turned up ... there must be some irony there! I think the H2 pretty much has its own niche ... the only thing that seems to come close is the Phantom with a cockpit footwell, which I believe to be a very rare beast.
