A new Blaze is £10,115 with a carbon rig and North sail (no covers, trailer etc, same as the 'ready to sail' H2). An Ovi Phantom with a North 3DL sail is £10,294..... As Simon sail, most boats are expensive these days. (but with a Merlin £270 shy of £14k.......)

Where did you get the idea that the H2 is twice the price of an Aero? Price of RS Aero 9 (RS website, today): £6670. Hadron H2: £9465. Edited by Keith_Callaghan - 19 Feb 17 at 4:40pm |

At twice the price for significantly less than half the amount of class racing on offer, the Hadron almost certainly has its own value proposition in other directions to the Aero...

It'll be interesting to see, in a couple of years, how a well used Aero has stood up to a few seasons use and abuse. Having sailed Raceboards (and Div 1 before that) for a lot of years I'm well aware that super light kit usually sacrifices durability (the one exception was Mistral's venerable Equipe 2 which seemed to take anything I could throw at it). I reckon a 5 year old H2 will be a rather better proposition than a similar age Aero.

As said by Sam the aero is a lot cheaper than the hadron. All the others are existing classes so there's isn't a gamble buying into one. The hadron is brand new and up against those boats. Take a brave person to shell out 10k to race on their own....at the moment. That is what Keith is up against. That said I do hope he does well cos it's a lovely looking boat. I did also say that the hadron is a lot of boat for the money. |

20% of our H2 owners previously owned an Aero. |

There are a couple racing the winter series at L&LSC.... and they got over 1100 returns into the 2016 PN list, that's only 100 less than an RS300.......

A new Aero is the thick end of £3k cheaper than the others you mention and a Laser fully £4k less (ok no real comparison there TBF). New boats are indeed getting very expensive. If I was in the market for a new singlehander the Aero would be very hard to ignore.........

Well all boats look expensive now. The Hadron for what it is isn't expensive. Compare a new Hadron, New Blaze, New Aero, New Phantom with the required bits and you might be shocked. They have all gone up considerably. Choose the best for you.
