Yes, you are right Aramids have zero strength in compression ( no more than resin) and cutting them is always difficult. They were used in the 80's /90's because Du Pont did such a good marketing job on them Now none of the raceboat laminates would have any Aramid in -things have moved on. They have low SG so they can give lamiante thickness but there are better and cheaper ways of getting laminate thcikness if you want it.

We used an 60/40 carbon aramid twill in a Twelve a few years back to give some ding/puncture resistance, which I think was achieved. I am not sure that moisture absorption is a big issue for boats that are not kept afloat. However aramids are poor in compression compared with carbon, so if stiffness is the driver then carbon is probably the choice material. Also aramids are a pain to trim.

Aramid is only used in the foot well,to increase impact resistance. |

Aramid in the hull? If it was me I'd ditch that. It doesn't do much in the laminate at all structurally, it is a pain to work with, absorbs water and is expensive. Stick some more carbon or glass in and you wiil get more strength and stiffness.

For a comprehensive evaluation of the HADRON H2, see the March edition of YACHTS & YACHTING magazine, which is available now. A four page boat test article by David Henshall is in the mag.
