If for publishing to "Youtube", they have a editorial program (for after uploading), but it is no easier than other programs, plus if your connection drops out, you may lose work done.

Hi Maxi
I think I will have a look at the tutorials before I download lightworks. From Cad comments I am not sure what other system he is suggesting.
Thanks for the advice.

but only simplified until you find that you need to use another one that isn't as easy to use to help you do the simple job. Plus movie editor has a handy knack of crashing just as you're getting to an important bit. I know that Lightworks looks daunting at first but to be honest it really is simpler in the long run. Took me an hour of following their tutorials and Igot there. Much less time and hassle than I ever had with movie maker. But each to their own, its a free world of free software.

But as you say, if you want to use a simplified editor...

and you can do all of that in Lightworks directly. In fact you don't even need to chop things up. You load the clip into the viewing window, mark where you want your clip to start and finish, push a button and it loads that into the editing window. Move the markers to the next bit you actually want and repeat, and so on until you have all the bits you want. It puts them in sequentially but you can move them around afterwards if you want to. Its far easier than faffing around with two programmes and hoping that movie maker doesn't crash all the time. And as the program is used on real films it can cope with the file sizes up front.
