Mate - the only one initiating any real sniping is you... pete's far too savvy to worry about a couple acrid, take it two ways, comments on an Internet forum. besides, it keeps conversation going ... Every story needs a villain, happy to play the role if you so depict it when it comes to the aero. Those who really know me, know I'd be more than happy to see that sh*tbox of a Laser I feel obliged to consider, replaced with something British designed and manufactured from the 21st century... You on the other hand seem to have the axe to grind, maybe hacked off that we've given up talking about that Ifon, or that th Blaze really is beginning to look a bit dated in the face of these new unarigs. |

I think John Cooper saw it differently, and Paddy Hopkirk proved JC right! There are lots of cars that were designed for the masses but went on to have great sporting success.. The Mk1 Escort, the Citroen DS.. Even the Austin 1800 was a very successful rally car... Surely the boating parallels to these are the Mirror, Heron, Enterprise... but I suspect sport was at least in the mind of the designer as he drew them... |

I may not be following this properly having been drinking but Alec Issigoni designed the mini as a family car but Paddy Hopkirk saw it differently.

Maybe change the recruiting method from dropping your trousers, Dan?
I can see the Zero as a beach boat, with a Dacron, lateen sail. Mind, I've yet to jump in one, so should probably save the jokes until I can speak crap from a position of authority. |

I am only saying exactly what a lot of people are already thinking and many have been saying for many months. The constant sniping and angling by a few, and they are just a few, for any negative angle on anything they percieve as a rival does little to serve their own cause....
It is damaging to 'their' preferred boat. Little doubt about it. Are they truly that naive to think anything else or can they simply not help themselves ? The last thing any builder or class needs is 'help' of this sort - and most would very sensibly disown and discourage it. Guys have you ever wondered why, for example, the RS and other supporters barely respond in kind ? IT DOES NOT WORK (and it much more likely damages 'your' class development and future both sides of the water) ! ![]() Now TT (et al) ... Open a bottle of decent wine yourself .... chill ... OK chill some more ... maybe a bit more still ... and reflect. |

Indeed - one minor criticism, if I may without offending you, is that a little more fun time footage this summer wouldn't go a miss... The Aero got that vibe going well on their early video releases. No reason both don't compliment each other offering a lighter hearted alternative to sailing... Shame they don't 'get together' at the National watersports festival!!! I designed and intended the punk and zero as beach boats, like a modern sunfish, but it seems everyone is just racing them!

Get over yourself Mike, have a glass of wine and do whatever it is you do to chill the f**k out... As I said, 'Beach Boat' is hardly a pejorative term, if it were perceived by Pete as such, then I will take note for future postings. I really like the Aero, wish there were a fleet near me, I'd buy one no question. Short boats and boards are normally more fun than their gargantuan cousins imho! The world has moved on from the dross Topper put out in the 90s!
A quick look at the PY return numbers verses numbers claimed sold, is a clear indication that the Aero is capturing a far broader set of imaginations than simply an all-out race boat does. But then I guess it serves your commercial agenda to kill of discussions on successfully launched classes, then we can get back to discussing the non-event that the icon was...
