The best free software is Lightworks though it isn't the easiest to master straight off but they do a good range of tutorial videos on their website. I followed them and managed to cobble together several videos that I like. Other than that you are looking at simplified editors such as Windows Movie and the like.

If you do go for Lightworks give me a shout Gordon and I can talk you through if needs be, though if you follow the tutorials you should find it relatively easy.
Everything I say is my opinion, honest

Ok ladies and gents some advice please.
For Christmas I was given a Cool-i cam which with a suction cam mount on the foredeck has given me about 90mins worth of video. What is the easiest way to edit that down into something worth viewing?
Have to say for what I thought was a budget option compared to others the quality is excelent. It has shown up a few issues in my sailing I thought I sailed fairly flat!
Hoping for some sensible advice and no mention of py!

Riot Van first foiled in 2013, you can see from the image it uses a Moth foil in a slot forward of the dagger board. Its fast in the right weather conditions but they do need to be pretty perfect, we have recorded 26 knots.

The project was designed purely for fun, and to pose the question to the fleet if there was any interest in becoming a northern hemisphere twin wire foiling class. Riot Van hasn't successfully made it around a course.

Clives and Alex's project has far more ambitious goals, using a custom full width foil to get foiling as earlier and smoother and to get around a course foiling, it was working fine at the Queen Mary inlands late last year, unfortunately the wind at QM wasn't, but they still notched in 3rd.

Both boats are still evolving this year, and I believe one or two other Cherubs may be adding foils.

Oh, and for the record, neither Clive nor I are responsible adults! These projects are driven by the youngsters, just how it should be !

Don't forget that Graham & Eddie Bridle in Riot Van (the Banshee hull design I had a hand in) actually sailed with foils a good couple of years before Clive. They showed exceptional speed at times, but both Clive and Graham are / were sailing with pretty young crews. Eddie was 13? when he was sailing on foils. That is going to have an effect on how you helm the boat, especially if you are the responsible adult (parent) on the stick doing warp factor 9! Clive had a difficult nationals. As I believe the weather was full on, or not much. But my point is that Loco Perro would give the 'tacking' stability and low wind, hull speed to be very competitive in the light ( why we had her built (Ben Brown & myself came 2nd in the champs in 2005 in LP). And get you to foil take off speed at which point the hull becomes irrelevant (within reason), other than to provide stability when you come off the foils again. This is one of the reasons (in my view) that Clive might be having issues. He has foils on a skinny UK Cherub, and so control issues (see 1:42 in the video above ) at splash down become a 'Big Issue' ( sorry in Joke).

The last I had seen was after the Nats last year.... It is early days though and I suspect a fair amount of tweaking and time in the boat is required!

At some point someone in the UK Cherub Class will realise they can put some foils of Loco Perro and clean up.

I thought Clive Everest was trying foils on his Cherub and was not having much success?
