I bet he'll be pleased to see that in the public domain - sub 1000 boats cause issues at certain ponds around here. In that they are simply not allowed on the water without some careful negotiation with the committee.... FWIW- before this post is tagged 'FUD'... I doubt it will level out at that, 1015 at harshest imho. 1030-1040 seems more realistic.

It was posted by him on the aero Facebook page, so already in the public domain. With the expectation that it will level out in the 1020/1030 range. Edited by ex laser - 11 Mar 15 at 12:37pm |

on another note, I noticed on SA (in the Zero thread), that someone said there was going to a change of focus away from three separate classes into one class with 'reefing options' for the RS Aero.
I'm assuming that is just BS / the 'UJ end of the tiller extension' talk? Anyone know anything about that?

That was from a reported conversation between the Designer and an Aero owner. I would speculate at the dinghy show and possibly on or around the RS stand....(that part is pure speculation though). Would be nice is RS popped up to clarify, we know they lurk round here and post occasionally.

Wasn't it discussed on here as well? BS I think, well I hope so. If I ever had one, I would want a 7 and want a separate handicap for it. Anyway I cannot remember when I've had more fun on y&y, but am of to work now. Have fun guys and girls. |

it just occurred to me (thinking outside the purple and yellow bubble of british values), that all the PY bullsh*t talk could really upset the apple cart for foreign markets.
There is of course absolutely nothing preventing RS from having a separate classes policy for the UK market - where just like Duncan, most of us would want separate PYs as owners or club mates of the Aero. Whereas in bongo-bongo land, they may prefer the reefing option, or add some weight equalisation bands to it and everyone racing together. The Kona seems to work well on this ethos... and they have some pretty fun looking regattas. "racing | fun | friendship - Kona spirit" |

The Aero Class Rules are out:

Rule C.1.4 by any chance Jim? Is that the class associations decision? Seems like the earlier thread was a valid one. You can change down rig size but not up? To me that's 1 Class with 3 rigs! Not 3 different classes. As such its my opinion 1 number should be issued.

can i clrify wht the system is with the laser? i know at our club you can change down a rig but your handicap will be at the bigger rig for the whole series, you cant change up. what difference does it make if its one class with 3 rigs or 3 different classes?
