It's a rule 69 transgression as stated above. Your club could punish the individual and / or report the matter to the RYA.

Yeah I dont know if there are specific guidelines in fleet racing but if not I imagine you can apply the same criteria used in team racing for umpire abuse. If its repeated, aggressivecalls into question your competence or impartiality or you find it personally upsetting you should punish/escalate it.

Been called all sorts of things when race officer, including Stevie Wonder in a Y&Y report, water off a ducks back ... All is forgiven if the abusers do their turn running races ... Less forgiving if they are life's takers.  However more on topic ... Surely a Rule 69 transgression?

So, if a competitor publishes a tweet, mid-series, calling the Race Officer "retarded" is that covered by any rule?
