And who cleans off the feet of seagulls and cormorants that pick up the larvae to transport to wherever they fly?

Well paid job, that - seagull feet cleaner. And just like any other job, you get shat on from above.

Just come from Grafham, I was very thorough, lifted the hull and hosed the Astroturf and everything.
But what about trollies with tubes that fill up, outboards, flooding rib hulls, flooding gunwales, inside centreboard cases etc. etc.
Are we just prolonging the inevitable?

If you didn't hose inside the centreboard case you weren't so thorough!

Most people don't wash down if they aren't travelling, unless it's sea sailing when the corrosive salt needs removing. Those visiting with their boats tend to wash more thoroughly I've noticed. Also we often pressure wash at home before travelling - no wash facilities at the local club.

So what if you think you're going to do the Brass Monkey on the 27th, and the Grafham Grand Prix on the 28th?  No room there for a 48 hour drying period.
the same, but different...

If I recall correctly, Grafham has Zebra mussels and killer shrimps while the quagga mussel has so far only been found in Wraysbury and Queen Mother reservoirs.

Not aware that zebra mussels have spread outside of Grafham as yet.

Datchet has the wash station this weekend.

If it's all TW reservoirs, then the BM at QMSC is going to be fun getting in/ out

Hate to say it, but if you were serious about minimising the risk of spreading the Quagga, you'd cancel the BM. Or have dedicated trained washers to spray down your boat.

It looks like the ggp may get postponed because of the launching.  I guess that would alleviate my issue.  I agree, wash down will make the BM even harder.  Grafham has the space for a fast and easy wash down - Shrimp alley - but QM does not.
