There was a look of surprise on a few faces as I carved my way through the fleet..... but a very light boat in those conditions will always be quick.

From my point of view (Handicap Fleet Captain) I'll be wanting to see the winter results before we change anything. We do primarily handicap racing through the colder months, and IMO this will provide the best feedback. It's going to be interesting to see what Paul's fellow racers come up with though... |

It was definitely a day for heading to the midlands for the best wind- I had an excellent sail at Rutland- out of Whitwell, not the SC- We had a nice F4 and yes I was also planing upwind my board- not that 'carving off the fin' planing you get with a shortboard, but proper 'skiff-like' planing, railed up and sending it.... gorgeous day of sailing.

Planing upwind with such a narrow beam/low righting moment. I am impressed.
Hopefully your sailing committee will be enlightened enough to watch your performance over a lot of days with varying weather, and bear in mind your past performance before they start playing with the PY. |

Had a lovely day sailing yesterday. Not sure on the results yet but given that my starts in 2 of the races were nothing short of awful I still managed to pull through the fleet to finish 3rd on the water behind faster boats. not sure how much longer they will let me keep this PY. To be fair the wind was right in the sweet spot. i could just about plane upwind in the puffs and was getting the boat to plane a lot of the time offwind whilst others were struggling.
Best an 8.1 over the water too (which is sailed but a guy I usually have a good battle with in Lasers.

The D-Zero Roadshow yesterday was a great success and was, for the first time, at two different venues (Clevedon SC in North Somerset and Restronguet SC in Cornwall).
Winds in Clevedon up to 22 knots with steep, sort waves which I am told is typical for the venue. We had about a dozen sailors out in the D-Zeros with sailor weights ranging from 62 Kgs (136 lbs) to 95 Kgs (210 lbs) and everyone returned to the shore with a huge grin :) Feedback was that they all loved the D-Zero and were amazed at how kind the boat was on all points of sailing. With comments such as 'breathtaking with no vices' and 'unbelievably stable given the performance of the boat' we were happy with our day at Cleveden. Our thanks go to Cleveden SC for hosting the event and also for the free beer at the end of the day :) A further report on Restronguet (which I understand also went very well yesterday in 15 knot winds) will follow soon along with some pictures from both events.

That looked like bloody hard work.
Love the 321 go in English! Common 2nd language, I guess. |

yep, although I must say after reading that bonafide poster's post about a 'mate who went down the mine', it feels like I've dodged a bit of bullet, you lot without your housing woes are the real mugs...
I mean Devoti- as if they would be developing & building a boat for open sea.... ridiculous notion if ever I heard one....
And using Valencia as one of the testing grounds, no swell out there, never.... |

I love the new forum member that has a mate that says...therefore it must be! Sounds like some fairly school boy forum trolling to me!

ooh, be careful rodders.... the water can be a bit three dimensional over there, it would be awful if you captured it sailing offwind in waves, what would the SA sock puppets say to that hey?
