Rogers

You have almost cracked it. According to the MR yearbook, 227 is Rocketoo a Rocket built in 1950 by Wyche & Coppock and altered to comply with the Merlin rules. The merger of the two classes took place on 1st April of the following year. Not sure if this was the normal Rocket logo or a one off for this one boat.

It might well be the normal Rocket logo given the timescale between building and the merger. First time I've seen it too.

Something for today

The Rocket logo had 'fins', not just wavy bits, but it may have been a nod in that direction. The 90 degree rotation is the crucial difference.

Off topic but what's the lowdown on that Cherub. Any idea what design it is?

Mine. She's a Farr with a Bethwaite wing mast.

235 is Squirrel I believe and is a beautiful boat (looks like my mate Mike on the waggle stick too).

What on earth is that spinnaker?  Surely that could never have been full sized, even back in the day.
