I couldn't agree more, I'm constantly wondering And the idiots won't change. What was it Einstein said about Insanity and doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? Strikes me that perfectly sums up the system. |

I don't understand, quite why Devoti are no longer involved but if I were them and had invested in moulds for such little return, I'd be reaching for the lawyers, so I should think they would continue building (if there were demand) and I doubt under EC law anyone could prevent UK purchasers buying from them, that's what the EU means.
As far as the class or any future class is concerned surely the more builders the merrier, lets face it if Rodney hadn't organised this demo for us, I doubt this thread would have gotten quite the momentum it has, every time I try to enlighten the darkness of dinghy mentality it seems to provoke controversy. What is it about them I wonder that makes them so difficult to enlighten.

I'm now utterly bored by all this moaning about the Icon and its PY/EN ... lets face it who cares ... hardly anyone has ever raced against one and only a tiny % of clubs will see them as so few have sold and now Devoti have pulled out things look worse ...

But you are taking the numbers too literally.... what this shows is that sailor 'over performed' significantly more in the Icon at this number than any other class he has sailed. Why that isn't converted into something wholly positive from a marketing POV is utterly bewildering?!?
In real terms- it will make you a better sailor because the Icon is so simple you can get on with sailing and forget the fannying about!!!!
