I couldn't believe that when he told me this morning, it is a bloody small world, what are the chances of that? He should know about stuff, he's working for the master of all marine knowledge.. and hell has he been on some courses that teach absolutely the wrong stuff about handling ribs..

Tasar Vs Icon
iiitick
The tasar is not allowed a dangly pole , however the existing jib stick can be cross cleated from the windward jib car to the jib clew which provides the same degree of control as the dangly pole offers.
the boat is exceptionally sensitive to being sailed bolt upright, pobably more than a phantom, hence the essentail use of the traveller
Ther are 5 confirmed Tasars at Federation week at Hyling Island in August. We have two spare competitive tasars available for use if anbody wishes to try one
Regards
Rod

Sounds like you should borrow an Icon for that week then ! Give me a call .... Mike L. PS - We very sensibly make sure the crew cannot 'lose' our sticks by making sure it is tied on (so many throw them over the side otherwise ) The official excuse it that they are 'more efficient' ...it also prevents crew related trouble ... you don't want them armed as well do you ?. Seriously - a dangle is a must really - I cannot imagine exactly what the Tasar has against them or is it another 'not invented here' problem ? Edited by blaze720 - 23 Jul 14 at 2:00pm |

Current results from a very light Abersoch...
We do blame the handicap of course ! ....(and I do not just mean Icons 969 EN !) Anyway Mike and Charlotte are under very strict instructions NOT to drive the EN the 'wrong way' ... They were of course rather easily 'beaten' in Race 1 as well ... not too surprising since Mike was not even there - he was working at / travelling from the British Open Golf event at the time ![]() Edited by blaze720 - 23 Jul 14 at 2:10pm |

When Grad sailing in the now distant past I made a dangly from an aluminium mop handle. Brilliant device. When sailing Tasar Nats. at Babbacombe on day two we lost the jib stick out in Torbay. To our amazment the rescue boat bought it back in......what are the odds on that, waves as well!

Was that the windy Babbacoombe nationals with big waves? won two races and disqualified for boat being 0.5 kg under weight.
Probably the best sailing I have had in the Tasar. Nationals there this year hope for a repeat but with a boat of correct weight!

Yes it was, we were sailing 734! It makes me very happy to hear you call them 'big waves'....it terrified me! Oddly enough my friend had no boat to sail this evening so we dragged the old girl out of the nettles, threw the rig on it and just made the start in time. Race one went very well but for race two the wind was dropping so not very good. Fun though!

Usually we do but remember, little lake, 100 yards or so to start line then 2 x 45 min races followed by 1 hour in the pub. What is depressing is that in three weeks time our evening series ends. We usually do potter on after that but it is amazing how the nights close in.
