Well I've sailed it downwind without the kite in a blow and it is absolutely fine. Come on Luca a zero cost addition to your stable!

Punk would certainly have been accepted at WSC as it is a new class.  It would have been stuck into the RYA/Sailracer returns just as the V3000 and Alto have been and the resulting ("personal") PY (we can discuss the validity of that ad nauseum, and have..) suggested by the site would be adopted (and reviewed regularly).

But anyone who thinks we would do this for every boat in the club just because Bert wanted to try a bigger sail or Fred wanted to add a couple of feet to his Laser has clearly never tried to run a results service for the club. I agree entirely with Nipper - it is just unfair on the people doing the duties.  It's bad enough faffing about in Sailwave when people change their crew every race...

I get it, sort of D0.5 Brilliant   Approve

I know quite a few other folks who liked the concept of a decluttered D-1 without a kite.  A bit like a Finn with a bit less pain.  LOL

I guess that will steered by the initial group of owners.  No class rules yet, no class association, no bullsh*t, but admitted some apprehension with any new class without this stuff locked down before paying up the balance.

It's a tricky one- one of the beauties of the boat is the simplicity of the design.  I certainly don't want to feel that I need to move the cleats to the sides and have all that continuous nonsense just to remain competitive.  I liked the position of the controls- out the bloody way up front and de-cluttered.

So if asked to vote on that aspect, e.g. re-locating control line termination points, I'd probably vote to restrict it, despite very much falling in line with the Icon / Blaze mindset in general terms.... Confused

Because it makes the experience for you better.

One of the things I have just realised about sailing is that it is a "very bossy sport". I didn't realise it before but I now resent being told by officious individuals that I have to do… this or that.

I get the feeling its a control thing for some people.

Lets be fair, cutting the corner off a laser is hardly going to make you win a race! If it sank because it leaked at least clubhouse would have something to talk about.

Just make sure it is your laser in the first place.  Embarrassed

MM i'll defer to you on rigging, a PY change of 10 is irrelevant though.

Nipper, fair point about the admin, im not sure sure its true for local friendly club sailing though.

wonder how the punk as allowed to compete given these posts... guess it wouldnt have at nippers or MM places...

Have to say i much prefer the icon, leave the hull foils mast and sails alone but do what ever you want to the rest of it approach to the RS/laser approach of you may polish it but only with approved dish cloths (handilly available online). Wonder which camp the d0 is in.
