feature is a strong word.
They are a long way off having class racing in the UK. Looking at their forums, it seems like the grass roots sailors want a one design, but the people running the sport are too dependent on the money from the manufacturers to jump in to bed with one so the little guys can't compete with a box-rule arms race.

I'm not close enough to really comment- only regurgitating crap read off the internet. FWIW - the whole concept of racing kiteboards fills me with about as much enthusiasm as watching powerboat or hovercraft races. I acknowledge they are on the water, therefore have some connection to what I do, but that's about as far as it goes.

I thought we were told on this forum that box rules were the answer to all sailing faults? :)

I'll report back after the Christchurch event.
The real feature, despite what some from this parish say about it, is a massively resurgent RS:X fleet. It looks like the kids quite like it when they finish with Team 15 and Bic Techno after all.

that's interesting to read, and good of course. At least they've bounced back with a bit of faith after all that nonsense with Rio then.

Yeah until everyone works out that one particular boat happens to be quicker than the others then it becomes one design racing again |

maybe at the top end of the fleet.... however what is quicker for one person, may not be for another.
That's certainly true in Solos, even at modest club level seasoned sailors can have their preferences as to which builder's product they find suits them better.

Most people are sheep. They see the top person using brand X them they want brand X. Of course the top person would probably win with brand y but then they ain't using it. If your spending a few grand would you take a chance on brand y if you knew that brand X was definitely a winning design?
