A benefit of a boat this narrow is that you can easily reach in and grab lines on the centreline - works well on the 3k.

Avoids all the cost and complication of side-deck led lines, along with the need to make them continuous or be forever worrying about having enough adjustment when you tack.

It's for the painter...

Anyway down to the important bit, what's the price? And don't tell me you can't say before the Dinghy Show else how am I going to know how many notes to bring?

No worries!   We are more than happy to help, just bring the deposit of £250.00 with you and you can place the order  Wink

Excellent, I've got my £250 at the ready. I will make up the rest of the price then.
Needs to sail more...

Nessa, from what I saw of the Punk sailing, it is a step up in terms of keeping mast above rig than the Lightning. Er Indoors might need a bit more time learning in a less full-on boat or risk being put off.

By the way, why does the boat have main sheet cleats? Seems you'd want to be adjusting things reahter more often than a cleat would allow, and no kite to put up, not to mention the being blown flat faster than you can uncleat problem.

Yeah you're probably right, he was hanging out a lot at the FOM, but then I couldn't get near him even with the wings on my EPS and they come with other issues, like windward capsizes if the wind suddenly drops or heads, it's not much fun being short upper body in a dinghy, not like windsurfing where you just cant the rig further over.
It's such a lovely boat though..

So, how heavy are you then?

Us girls don't like to talk about our weight and I've allowed my self to 'bulk up' to 70 kgs as it is, I'm a right tubby rhino at the moment. (It's ten per cent over my fit fighting weight of 63kgs which is the optimum weight for homo sapiens anything more is obesity).

tbh it's not the weight, it's the ability to get what I have got far enough out. I've got quite long legs but they all stay in the boat and unless I indulge in all that ungentlemanly ass hanging over the side uncoolness leaning out with a short upper body is next to useless.

stick a wire on it Graeme... F3 and above wire it (non-sleeved /luff tube rig, it's begging to be customised) and then inland where trapping is sh*te you can Maxibuddah 'hike' instead, (this requires one cheek either side of the gunwale and use your gluteal muscles to tighten up harder than if you are at D-One demo day and Russ is offering a couple of grand off...)

Not to mention bad for your back.

Anyone else remember the Elvstrom caption, "this man will damage his back" ?

Rupert, she is staying rigidly loyal to the Lightning.  As ever, I live in fantasy land.

When the time comes, I will be expecting 'hiking lessons' from a certain Mr Holman.  I'm not interested in the maximise your body weight slingsby crap he is no doubt well practiced at, I want to know about the cheating style where you don't expend that much energy but concentrate on 'other things' to maximise boat speed.

Nessa posted a photo of a guy busting his sack on a D-One once, Dan made a comment about him being stuck in for the long haul and not actually gaining much from it.... I'd like to explore what he really meant, but probably best done on the water/beach side than on the forum.

Rupert you have nothing to worry about!  Lightning still ticks all the boxes if I want to keep sailing - now I have experienced a centreboard I would never go back to a daggerboard anyhow...And half the attraction of the class is knowing the nice people.
