you should try snowboarding for an addictive buzz with kit-inspired techno-babble.... knocks dinghies and windsurfers into a cocked hat! My latest toy... a top of the range all mountain freestyle board, with some serious tech running through it. I can can't wait to get it to the proper snow in March. Coupled with carbon infused bindings that I had to import from the US as the UK agent doesn't stock them as they are too high end for the UK market. But they are seriously sweet and comfortable... |

... was an invitation - I was expecting more formula before the end brackets!
BTW this thread has reminded me that I made a conscious decision not to spread my Mojo too thinly - one obsessional sport is quite enough...

Round the back far easier once you get the gist.... Nose down - gets the wide bits out the back out of the water and the bite helps you point - and yes one of the reasons for the long stick is the need to get forward. Try doing that as a 95kg gorilla rather than a wee capuchin monkey. Huge irony in 'you're only any good if you can sail one of these' since one of the things that held the class back was selling too many to those who weren't up for the challenge (especially as the dempgraphic for a relatively expensive singlehander is middle aged plus (kept mine all the way from my young years so I guess that's OK...

Well Yellow, I may be perverse, but I actually like racing in light winds - gives me time to think about what I'm doing (and why others are doing it better!).
Sure the cat is huge fun in a strong wind, but I have to admit that when racing in those conditions I'm just trying to survive and get round without pitchpoling.

5 knots is fine. 1 or 2, not.

... as opposed to what which is stonking fun in 5 knots???? We get so wrapped up in thinking our sport is watersport, but in truth it's a more a wind sport. (Think Ice yachting, land yachting, kiteboarding etc) At least the Dart 15s are solid in the upper wind ranges. When it's properly windy at the duck pond it's usually only windsurfers and Darts brave/stupid enough to go out. The best bit of sailing kit you can have for Wednesday nights? A push bike or a cinema listing in the boot of the car
