Another way of looking at it ...

Dinghy sailing is just an activity some of us enjoy - just like Pidgeon racing is enjoyed by others.  However each activity does carry a load of 'chattering classes' class related baggage of course - So just ask yourselves ....

Did YOU just  become 'Posh' when you took up Dinghy Sailing (whether you like it or not) or were you 'Posh' already ?  Because in the end it does not really matter what you think about yourself - I'm still betting much of the rest of the population will still say that you are anyway !

Might just be better to forget ‘traditional labels' and just go sail .....  Leaving the rest to the Sociologists LOL

Now they are the kind of people us mud dwellers can look up to, i appreciate a true 'toff'.

I must tell you all in advance......that we are off to Venice again next month, but, only because I am a kind husband who wishes to treat his wife. I promise not to enjoy my self.

Love that tradition, no clubhouse? Toughened up in the Raj eh'.

Euros? Modern tinge, like it. Only thirty of the buggers, club for distressed gentlefolk obviously.

take your wellies, and I hope you're not one of those cheap skate tourists who takes the bus in, there's only one way to arrive in Venice, so pack a buoyancy aid too.

not as posh as one of the yacht clubs near me, Chipping Norton YC- so posh it doesn't even need home waters.  And I'm sure half the membership are due for a spell in the clink for phone hacking- it's the latest celebrity jail experience; tax fraud was so Lester Piggott / Christine Hamilton.

I agree with self-belief being important ... and of course I did not say it was not important !  The point is why worry if someone else wants to apply labels to you ?   It is your perception that is much more important.. and call it self-belief if you want.
