knowing where you boat is parked and draycotes high water level, i am surprised it did not float away.

Jimbo, Hope i am not telling you to suck eggs again mate.  But when sailing down wind take the mainsheet from its final fall (to the stopper not) you then be able to pump the main more effectively downwind (legally) but also be able to change your sheeting position quicker should you need to head up or run by the lee.  It also helps prevent some of those horrible capsizes to windward...Solos LURRRVVV them.  as you can quickly tug a load of sheet to help rescue to role.  Try it mate, i would think it will help you at least a couple of boat lengths downhill.
