Why do 16s have three trapeze wires on each side? I guess it's something like they use the front and middle wires upwind and the middle and back wires downwind?

Most 16s only have the 2 traps these days. I've got 3 on mine as I often hit the wire when the crew goes in to set and stash the kite. Also when it's really light I'll jump out on the wire and get the f'hand to leeward to keep the weight forward.

I was supposedly at a band practice, but rushing out for every TV news update...

You youngsters won't believe what a big deal this was, but it was on the front page of all the National newspapers in the UK...

A great moment in Australia's sporting history. I remember the merchandise at the time going crazy. I was at school and had an eraser shaped like the Americas Cup. Using it was a logistical nightmare.
