And a more proficient sailor. Beach toys don't beat me on their own.

The Alto rig is simply huge compared to a 3k.

But you were beaten by an outdated beach toy? Interesting.

They're under canvassed and under kited, had mine on the beach today trying to sort my wing wang out and get my main halyard back down the mast where some helpful soul had pulled it out over the winter to secure some flapping bit of boat cover.

It was Alto weather today we'd have had a ball, had all the bits been readied yesterday instead of me nursing the hangover from hell. So instead I had a good day in the EPS, still not quite fast enough to best a Rooster powered Laser, but he didn't get to far away this time and a couple of times I reeled him back a few boat lengths.

Yeah, very long one though - lasted about 10 minutes...  To be fair, they were trying that Alto soaking thing out of the tide, when it was actually top-end-of-a-3, 'heat it up and to heck with the tide' time.  That flat, loose-leached main can't have helped either.

We've been so lucky with the weather the past two Sundays, given how bad it's been during the week.

Today's memory to sustain me for the next few days was sunny planing past two Altos on the final kite reach to the line.  We simply gobbled them up from quite a long way back after the beat.  Also passed a couple of 2k's at the same time as if they were stationary.

sail of utter joy this morning, had a thick head to start off (v early due to tides, wedding reception last night) but soooo worth dragging myself out of bed for, light but not un-sailable and utterly lovely to shed a couple of layers and break out the sunnies! happy daze

First time out in new old boat. second hand mast didnt fit as well as I had hoped so had rig tension problemsand had to drop the gooseneck lower to get main to fit at all but by the third race we were going quite well. Bringing her home to try some adjustments and a different mast.
It was great to be back on the water despite rig frustrations.

Spent Sunday playing in the Minisail - lovely and warm in the sunshine, great day for a sail, once the ice had melted on the lake.

Back down on Monday to race the Lightning. Grey skies, wind with a nasty bite. Did 3 races, but can't say I enjoyed having hands so cold I could grip any control lines, or the burning feeling as they warmed up again.
